John Jacobs, Principal – Over the past 25 years John has helped lead organizations spanning non-profits, digital media and market research firms, and the United Nations. His work has taken him around the world advising senior executives of high-tech companies, negotiating with government ministries, launching products, organizing events and conducting research.
John began his career in the International Operations Department of Harris/Lanier Corporation handling letters of credit and shipments of office equipment to French speaking African countries, before moving into high-tech and telecommunications.
After rising through the marketing ranks of MCI Communications, John accepted a senior role within the United Nations system at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland. From Geneva, John moved into a management role at Yankee Group Research as senior vice president of marketing and product management.
For the past ten years John has been a senior executive in non-profits helping to expand member value and create new revenue sources by listening to members, launching new services, quantifying member engagement, launching a digital TV studio and developing and implementing strategic plans.
Most recently John served as chief operating officer of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
John holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BA in International Affairs from American University.
